What DeerScan provides

DeerScan is a free resource for landholders, Landcare groups, community groups, local Councils, professional pest controllers and biosecurity groups. It has been designed by landholders for communities.

  3. Control activities (e.g. ground shooting)

Benefits of using DeerScan

  1. Develop a property or local area map of wild deer activity to guide control efforts,
  2. Work together with your neighbours to undertake coordinated control,
  3. Notify your local community or landholder group about wild deer activity,
  4. Send alerts to nominated people, such as neighbours or biosecurity authorities.

Download the Glovebox Guide for Managing Feral Deer

This Glovebox Guide to Managing Feral Deer is a practical resource designed to assist Australian land managers (farmers, public land managers and Indigenous groups) to manage the impacts of feral deer. A large part of tackling a deer problem depends on your awareness of the situation, and being informed on how best to reduce their undesirable impacts. This guide aims to increase your understanding of where deer live, outline your options and the benefits of control, summarise monitoring and management strategies , and help you develop a cost-effective deer management plan.

Resources for deer management

Many resources are available to help you identify, monitor, or plan control of deer populations in your local area. View fact sheets, instructional videos, guides and strategies on best practice deer management. Use these resources as part of your coordinated control with your neighbours, local working groups, and biosecurity organisations.

National Feral Deer Action Plan

The National Action Plan aims to enhance tools, strategies, capacity, and awareness to reduce the impact of feral deer across landscapes to acceptable levels, where desired by local communities, regions, or jurisdictions, and to eradicate them where feasible.
